Niman Ranch started in the early 1970s on a family-owned cattle ranch in Bolinas, CA. The cattle were raised with care, using traditional, humane methods with wholesome, all-natural feeds. Before long, Niman Ranch beef became a favorite in the Bay Area. In 1995, Niman Ranch expanded to raising hogs when they teamed up with Paul Willis in Iowa. His dedication to animal welfare and stewardship of the land closely matched Niman Ranch’s stringent principles. A partnership was formed, allowing Niman Ranch to offer a larger variety of meats.
Today, Niman Ranch’s network includes more than 700 family farmers and ranchers throughout the Midwest, Rocky Mountains, Pacific Northwest and Mid-Atlantic. They all share a commitment to raising livestock under strict protocols, and the belief that humane and sustainable methods produce the best possible flavor.
Niman Ranch beef is 100% Angus, and is never given antibiotics or added hormones. The cattle are pasture-raised and finished on grain to produce flavorful, well-marbled beef. It’s with this incredible flavor in mind, that we use Niman Ranch beef for our burgers and chili, and source their Fearless Franks for our hot dogs.
